Exciting New Programs!
Rotating High School (RHS)
Empowering Students Through Independence, Flexibility & Real-World Readiness
Bancroft’s Rotating High School (RHS) program is designed to prepare students for life beyond the classroom by fostering independence, flexibility, and self-advocacy. This unique high school model offers students the opportunity to move between classrooms and instructors throughout the day, helping them generalize academic, social, and vocational skills across various settings.
Like all of our high school students, those in the RHS program continue working toward required high school credits in core academic areas. In addition, they build essential life skills—including social development, daily living tasks, and vocational readiness—through a more dynamic and integrated approach to learning.
Rather than remaining in one classroom, RHS students transition as a group, supported by paraprofessionals, to engage in subjects such as art, music, gym, health, and community-based instruction. This movement across learning environments helps prepare students for less restrictive settings, including Bancroft’s MoveUp Program for students aged 18–21.
Program Goals
Prepare students for less restrictive, post-high school settings
Provide exposure to various instructional styles and educators
Increase student independence and self-advocacy
Support transitional skill development
Foster social skill growth
Strengthen functional living and vocational skills
Clinical Supports
Students in the RHS program receive ongoing support from Bancroft’s full clinical team. Services—including speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and counseling—are delivered through a collaborative model. Each classroom is assigned a dedicated therapist from each discipline, working closely with teachers to provide individualized support as needed and in alignment with each student’s IEP.
MoveUp
The MoveUp Program at Bancroft School bridges the gap between classroom learning and adult life by providing students ages 18–21 with realistic, supported work experiences in a less restrictive, structured environment. Designed to mirror elements of Adult Day Services, the program prepares students for the next step in their journey—whether that’s supported employment, lifelong learning, or continued enrichment.
Students in the MoveUp Program participate in three core learning levels adapted from Adult Day Services:
Day Enrichment
Lifelong Learning
Career Exploration
These experiences take place within our specialized school environment and in partnership with community-based organizations through Supportive Work Experiences—extended, off-campus internships that last 2–3 hours. These longer shifts offer students a more authentic work experience and the opportunity to build meaningful skills for future employment.
Instruction is led by a Vocational Teacher and supported by Job Coaches. In designated spaces like the Prep Room, support gradually fades to encourage independence. The program’s flexible staffing structure allows for personalized support while helping students grow confidence in navigating new expectations.
Students selected for the most independent level of the program will be identified using the Bancroft School Adult Services Readiness Scale, success within the MoveUp Program, and prior off-campus internship experience.
Program Goals
Promote independence and confidence
Support behavior stabilization in workplace settings
Strengthen functional and independent communication
Develop work readiness skills for supported employment
Clinical Supports
All students in the MoveUp Program benefit from Bancroft’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, behavior support, psychological services, and social support.
Tier 1: Universal supports embedded in every classroom
Tier 2 & Tier 3: Targeted and individualized services based on student needs and IEP requirements
