The Bancroft School, Mountainside, is a New Jersey-approved private nonprofit special education school for children with developmental disabilities. Our campus is conveniently located in Mountainside, NJ.
For over 50 years, The Bancroft School, Mountainside, has excelled at providing a high-quality education and excellent therapeutic services to exceptional students with very special needs in a safe and nurturing environment. The team, our students, and their families make up our community of learners whose priority and focus is helping each student reach their full potential as they ultimately transition to life beyond high school.






Meet Principal, Martina Remy!
Martina Remy is proud to serve as Principal of The Bancroft School Mountainside, bringing more than 25 years of dedicated experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) field. She leads with a deep commitment to advocacy, creativity, and inclusive education, ensuring every student is supported in reaching their fullest potential.
Before stepping into the principal role, Martina was the Educational Supervisor at Mountainside, where she supported students with ID/DD from ages 3 to 21. Her career began in residential services, managing a group home in New York City. After earning her teaching degree, she transitioned into early childhood special education, teaching in classrooms across the city and supporting students with complex learning needs.
Martina also directed an early childhood evaluation site in Manhattan for 10 years, helping children and families access critical special education services. She later served as Head of Admissions for a private special education school and has shared her expertise in higher education as an adjunct professor at LaGuardia Community College, teaching undergraduate courses in disability studies.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University College Dublin, a master’s degree in Special Education, and has completed postgraduate studies in Educational Leadership. Throughout her career, Martina has been recognized for her unwavering passion, her strong advocacy for students and families, and her innovative approach to inclusive education.
